Ashley Tullis, Dripping Springs number one realtor, and Amber Pierce with COIT Cleaning and Restoration, are back with your Weekly Drip talking about all the fun things to do in Dripping Springs this week. We've got star parties, our upcoming Founder's Day, and even some Reggae music to change things up! Keep on reading our Weekly Drip recap to find out more or click the replay video below. If you find yourself needing some entertainment at 2pm CST on a Wednesday, be sure to catch these ladies on Facebook Live sharing all things Dripping Springs.

Ashley and Amber have both had the crud lately and Ashley believes it's due to our bipolar weather patterns we've been having lately where it's hot, then cool, hot, then cool. 'Tis the season for the crazy weather!

Founders Day weekend is upon us and the weather should be perfect!  What may not be perfect is the parking situation. It tends to get a little crazy. Amber shared that she's been pretty lucky in the past with parking, but she tends to be a very lucky parking person. She also divulges that she's the type that will drive around stubbornly UNTIL she finds the perfectly close spot. Ashley said she's the type that will park 3 blocks and just walk to get her steps in for the day. Regardless of how lucky you are with parking, you could be even luckier if you enter Ashley's FREE parking pass giveaway. She shared she's doing a drawing for a free parking pass right at the parking area on Old Fitzhugh Rd just north of Mercer St. Parking doesn't get any more prime than that location! You can click here to enter her giveaway.

Ashley shared some more fun Founders Day info she learned at the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce luncheon this week. The chamber offices recently relocated to the Spring Bluff Center which is the horseshoe of businesses at the end of Mercer St just past Hudson's on Mercer. Ashley let us know that Deep Eddy Vodka will be set up there for Founders Day. You can buy wristbands to get drinks and use the air conditioned bathroom or even tour the new chamber offices. I'm sure the new chamber offices are cool, but you had me at drinks and air conditioned bathroom!

Amber shared this is her first year to not be in the Founders Day parade so she's looking forward to being a spectator. Ashley is a seasoned Mardi Gras parade attendee so she knows exactly where to stand for those types of parades and she's determined to figure out the same for the Founders Day parade so she can report back for next year. The parade will begin at 6:30pm on Friday so be sure to get your spot, wherever it may be and if you too find the perfect spot, be sure to let our ladies know! And of course, if you have a crap location for the parade, no worries because one of the Weekly Drip viewers, Martin, let us know that the Knights of Columbus Council 11685 will be selling cold beer for hours before the parade begins.

If you're planning on avoiding Founders Day, but you don't want to sit on your rear at home, Amber's got you covered with some other fun things going on around Dripping Springs. Four words - DOOM METAL GOAT YOGA. You heard correctly. Every Saturday morning at Jester King you can find Doom Metal Goat Yoga. Exercise with livestock while jamming out to doom metal. What more could you need??? And speaking of metal or just music in general for that matter, Ashley shared that she and her husband recently took their 12 year old son to a metal show at Emo's in Austin and it was surprisingly kid friendly. They were able to get a seat in the ADA section (of course when there is no one needing that accommodation) which is up on risers so her son could see the whole show. Rock on!

Amber shared a few more fun activities around town. The last Monday of each month there is Trivia Night at Beerburg. Sign ups are at 5:30pm and trivia begins at 6:00pm. For the youngsters, our local YMCA is doing a Teen Laser Tag for only FIVE DOLLARS! It is 8 on 8 laser tag with food and prizes for teens 12-16 years old.

Ashley and Amber both attended the Monthly Chamber luncheon where they discussed the state of the district. Ashley shared that the new business and community directory is out for the year and there was an interesting "by the numbers" page that shared some interesting statistics about the school district. In 2018 there were 6,873 students in DSISD and as of last year, 2022, there were 8,377 so the school district is definitely growing! She also noted there are 8 schools in the district and it serves a huge 198 sq miles. The district serves an astounding 6,850 meals DAILY with over 1000 employees. DSISD is also the 7th largest employeer in all of Hays county and by far the largest in Dripping Springs alone. And one final statistic shred was that 25.6% of teachers in DSISD have advanced degrees which is amazing to have that many high quality teachers. All this to reminded us that there is a bond election currently going on. Ashley shared she was able to early vote early at Headwaters with no wait. Amber let us know if you're unable to vote early, you can also vote on the actual election day which is 5/6 from 7am to 7pm. Voting locations are at Headwaters, the Belterra Fire Station and Hays County Prectint 4 on Rodger Hanks.
