The Weekly Drip - Season 4 Episode 5
And then there were THREE! The Weekly Drip featured a special guest host this week in addition to our dynamic duo, Ashley and Amber. No, it wasn't Kevin the cat joining them again either. It was Pam Owens with Destination Dripping Springs. Pam was sharing some information about fun events happening around Dripping Springs and we couldn't be more excited to check them out! For all the details you can watch the video replay below or keep on reading for the full recap. You'll want to mark your calendar for these exciting upcoming events and while you're at it, go ahead and mark you calendar to catch Ashley and Amber live on Facebook every Wednesday at 2pm CST!
Season 4, Episode 5 of The Weekly Drip:
TEN DAYS!!!! YOU HAVE 10 DAYS!!! Run, don't walk, to get your ticket!!! For what you ask? For the 2nd Annual Dripping Springs Brewers Festival right in downtown Dripping Springs on March 25th. This festival celebrates several of our amazing local brewers, 14 of them to be exact!
In alphabetical order - Acopon Brewing, Bear King Brewing Company, Beerburg Brewing, Bell Springs Brewing, Family Business Beer Co, Fitzhugh Brewing, Ghost Note Brewing, Jester King Brewery, Pecan Street Brewing, Suds Monkey Brewing Co, Texas Cannon Brewing Company, Twisted X Brewing, Vista Brewing and our final numerically named 12 Fox Beer Co.
Pam notes that this is a casual festival with less than 500 people so if you're not in to big crowds, sounds like this beer festival might be for you! The Brewers Festival is going to be right on Old Fitzhugh Road in the grassy field so if you're in to drinking beer in a grassy field, this beer festival might also be for you!
You've got some options here for tickets and we'll break it down for you:
$40 - VIP Ticket - You get a head start on the beer drinking beginning at 11am and you'll have a cool wristband that gets you all the beer.
$25 - Regular Ticket - You will begin your beer drinking escapades at 1pm. You'll receive 8 beer tasting tickets.
$10 - DD/Under 21 Ticket - You can enter when your friends enter, but you will have no beer.
Free Admission for well behaved dogs, but bring your poo bags!
There will be live music all day from Jankey and Monte Good. Pam let us know there will be no activities for kids. You can bring your kids, but you will be responsible for entertaining them and that might put a damper on enjoying beer. It might not.... but it might. You'll also need to eat if you're drinking all the beer so there will be 4 food vendors, Dripping Springs Cook-off Club, Lobster Dogs Food Truck, JP-8 Coffee and Flight Ice Creams. Sounds like all the food groups to me!
Let's say you're fresh out of cash, but you'd still like to drink beer in a grassy field with a mild amount of people. You're in luck! Pam mentioned they are still looking for volunteers and you get a free wristband for helping! That's a solid trade - sign me up! Or you can click here and sign yourself up. If you'd like to go on
Next up to discuss - The Dripping with Taste Trail Pass. This is an app based activity where you'll visit the 50 participating venues made up of local wineries, breweries, distilleries, tasting rooms and restaurants. If you need more incentive than amazing food and beverage, you can also earn prizes! Ok, need more incentive??? You'll also receive special discounts at each venue! Are you convinced yet? The challenge to visit them all will run between April 28th and October 20th so you'll have nearly 6 whole months to knock them all out. Challenge accepted!
If you'd like to go on another treasure hunt, the Texas Hill Country Trail Passport is a great way to get out and learn about our beautiful Hill Country area. The Texas Historic Commission says there are 19 counties that fall in the Texas Hill Country. The passport focuses on historic sites around the Hill Country and works just like a regular passport where you can grab stamps in your book at each location you visit. There are 36 places total, but you only have to visit 24 to win prizes. You can grab your passport book at the Dripping Springs Visitor Center on Mercer Street and the special hill country map they have to accompany the passport book.
Pam, Ashley and Amber wrapped up their chat discussing the upcoming Songwriters Festival which will be October 20-22. Pam let us know there will be a special surprise visitor at the festival this year. Ashley tried her best to get it out of Pam, but she was quite the steel trap! Looks like you're just going to have to block your calendar and make sure you're there to see the surprise guest for yourself.
