Well it's tax time again. Queue the doom and gloom music. Ashley reminded us that our property tax assessments should be showing up in our mailboxes any day now and per usual will likely have increased from last year. Luckily Ashley has an easy button solution for you! She's offering a FREE informational Zoom session all about how to easily protest your taxes this year and for years to come. You don't even have to lift a finger! Well maybe you have to click your mouse a few times, but it's REALLY easy. The Zoom session will be on April 26th at 6:00PM CST and once again is FREE! Sounds like a no-brainer! Ashley shared the staggering statistic that 94% of Texans do not protest their property taxes. That's insane! So Ashley has partnered with a company that will make protesting your property taxes so easy, you'd be crazy not to do it. Not only that, but your first year is only $15 for them to check your property taxes and the proceeds from that will go to the local charity Foster Village. This is a win-win-win-win-win! Amber shared that The Burke Center is celebrating 50 years in Driftwood this Saturday from 10am-2pm with an open house and community picnic. There will be live music and hayride tours. The picnic lunch will be catered by Hays City Store. You can preregister for the event here and preregistration will also enter you into a raffle! If you're not familiar with The Burke Center, they provide therapeutic experiences and treatment services at their ranch to young men and boys from all over Texas as well as providing foster and adoption services to Texas children. This sounds again like a win-win-win-win-win!

If you're looking to break out your dancing shoes, Amber shared that every Friday there are dance lessons at Mercer Dance Hall at 7pm. She admitted that she is not the best at dancing and her husband is quite possibly even worse. Sounds like we know where to find Amber this Friday night!

Ashley and Amber both attended a pop up Easter event at Rose Haven Bakery and Event venue last weekend. There were all kinds of Easter sweets to be had. Amber shared her favorite cake is her homemade gluten free and dairy free carrot cake. Sounds pretty healthy... I'll take 2 please! Amber shared how she makes her delicious dairy free buttercream frosting for her cake using a vegan butter and tons of powdered sugar.

All this powdered sugar talk led Ashley and Amber into a very deep discussion about how powdered sugar is actually made. Amber claims it's made by gnomes pounding regular sugar with little hammers. Ashley saw a cool hack to make your own powdered sugar on Tiktok where you just put your regular sugar in a high-powered blender and it turns to powdered sugar in no time. Who knew?! Amber also mentioned brown sugar is just molasses and white sugar mixed together... no gnomes involved in this one. They asked for other hacks their viewers may have to share and also learned a cool hack for making boiled eggs easier to peel by tapping on the egg with a spoon before you boil it until it makes a faint crack sound. So many hacks!

Ashley let us know this weekend is the 5 year anniversary party at Vista Brewing and if you've been around for any amount of time, you know Vista Brewing is Ashley's go to spot for chicken nuggets. I mean their beer is great too, but their chicken nuggets are world renowned. Or maybe Dripping Sprigs renowned? 

If you're wanting to venture a little outside of Dripping Springs this weekend, Amber shared that New Braunfels is having their Annual Folk Fest. This fest celebrates history with reenactments and includes pioneer crafts, live music, food and drinks. Sounds like a historically good time!
